Very few people can live in isolation. We generally do better when we have people around to talk to, share stories with, and support us. I feel this is especially true when it comes to faith and religion. Here, I will attempt to share my thoughts and reflect on my spiritual journey -- I know this will further strengthen my faith, and I hope this will positively influence yours as well.  - CradleCatholic2.0

Clearing the Mind

I recently caught up with a friend that I hadn't seen in a long time. I knew immediately there was something different about him, but couldn't really pin point exactly what it was. He looked really relaxed, refreshed and carefree. When I asked him what's different, he went on to tell me he's practicing meditation.

He said: pretend like you have a glass of water with dirt in it. If you stir it, and keep stirring it, it gets muddy and you cannot see though it. But if you let the dirt settle to the bottom, you can see clearly again through the glass.

The dirt in this example refers to our worries, fears, insecurities that cloud up our mind and judgement. Meditation is a way for us to silence these voices and put them in the back burner so they do not negatively interfere with our lives.

In my busy day where I rush from one thing to the next, I feel I would highly benefit from some quiet time- time away from work, phone, TV, computer- to allow myself to refocus and de-stress. Do you regularly set aside time for yourself and how has that changed your life?
