Very few people can live in isolation. We generally do better when we have people around to talk to, share stories with, and support us. I feel this is especially true when it comes to faith and religion. Here, I will attempt to share my thoughts and reflect on my spiritual journey -- I know this will further strengthen my faith, and I hope this will positively influence yours as well.  - CradleCatholic2.0

Where Love Meets Action

Pope Francis’ monthly prayer intention for September is: “That our parishes, animated by a missionary spirit, may be places where faith is communicated and charity is seen.” The first person that came to mind was St. Teresa of Calcutta, and this is a great time to remember her – September 5th marks her 20th anniversary of her death and the first anniversary of her sainthood.

St. Teresa’s life story is incredible. She dedicated her entire life in service to others, particularly the poorest of the poor, the sick, the unloved people in India. Not only did she serve these people with all her heart, but she also lived her life with minimal possessions. She is the epitome of selflessness, perseverance, determination, faithfulness, courage, humility, love, and charity. In a way, she reminds me of the way Jesus lived!

In honor of St. Teresa, let’s spend a little time this month to learn more about her and allow ourselves to be inspired to do what we can to make this world a better place. I’d recommend watching the movie The Letters (2015) and her acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize (1979). Here are some of my favorite Mother Teresa quotes:

“Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.”

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”

“In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.”

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
